Independence:
The capacity to be self-managed and self-disciplined in your reasoning and action and to be liberated from emotional reliance. Those that are independent make their own decisions and plans, but may search and reflect on other people's views before making the ideal decision. Independent people avoid hanging on to others in order to fulfill their emotional requirements. The capacity to be independent lies in a person's level of self-assurance and the need to meet expectations without growing enslaved to them.
